National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the exam dates for the third and fourth session of JEE Main 2021, and students appearing for NEET-UG 2021 are eagerly waiting for the announcement regarding the medical entrance exam.
While the exam is scheduled to be held on August 1, the registration process, which usually starts 60 days before the date of the exam, has not started yet. While an official announcement regarding the NEET 2021 exam date is awaited, the delay in the registration process has indicated the possibility that the medical entrance exam may be postponed.

Union Education Ministry Indicates

The exam may be conducted in September, provided the COVID-19 situation in India remains favourable, sources in the NTA under the Union education ministry said, but added that after in-depth discussions with top sectors in the government, the final decision will be taken later.
Officials said the matter would also be discussed with newly inducted education and health ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Mansukh Mandaviya in the coming days.

Students Will Be Given Sufficient Time

“As of now, we are consulting all stakeholders, including the National Medical Commission,” a senior NTA official said, adding that students would be given sufficient time to register and prepare for the test.
“We understand that there is a lot of worry and anxiety among the students as registration for the examinations is yet to begin, but we need to strike a balance between the safety of the candidates and the academic calendar of medical colleges,” he said.

Beware Of Viral Fake News

Earlier on July 6, a fake notice had gone viral on social media claiming that the NEET exam would start from September 5. Later NTA issued a clarification saying that all medical aspirants are advised that till now NTA has not issued any notification or announced NEET 2021 exam dates. Remember viral news rotates in every social platform. NTA advises candidates to be patient and check only educational website or NTA website for details regarding NEET 2021 exam.
Several students have demanded the postponement of the medical entrance exam till October on social media.

Last Year And This Year

Last year, the exam was conducted on September 13 in the midst of the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic despite widespread protests for its postponement, while the results were declared a month later.
This year, the hopes of the exam being held soon have increased, especially as the government earlier this week announced new dates for the two pending sessions of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main).

Computer Based Test

Officials however also pointed out that JEE (Main) is a computer-based exam and is conducted over several days, it is easier to manage the crowd at the exam centres as compared to NEET, which is a pen and paper mode test. And there will be more than 12 Lakhs of students are appearing across India for the exam in a single day.

Final Announcement Will Be Soon

Meanwhile, while talking to the leading national media, NTA Director General Vineet Joshi said that the date of NEET 2021 exam will be announced very soon.
Ministry of Education announced new exam dates for JEE (Main) April and May session 2021. The April session of JEE Main 2021 will be conducted from July 20-25. The fourth and final session of JEE Main 2021 (May session) will be conducted from July 27 to August 2. The registration window has been reopened for those candidates who could not apply for the exam earlier. Candidates can apply at jeemain.nta.nic.in
