The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday decided to directly transfer money to the bank accounts of parents of students of class 1 to Class 8 in government and government-aided primary schools to buy uniforms, shoes, socks, sweaters and school bags.
It also decided to provide 80 hectares of land in the state capital to the Défense Research Development Organization (DRDO) at a token lease rent of Re 1 per annum.

In another important decision, the cabinet decided not to give 80 hectares of land on a nominal annual lease rent of Re 1 to DRDO, which is developing Brah-Mos missile here. The land in Sarojini N. Tehsil has been identified and over Rs 9,299 crore will be invested by DRDO in the next five to seven years, the release said. A senior district official said on Friday that all colleges in Maharashtra’s Thane district will conduct a COVID-19 vaccination drive to administer the first dose of vaccine to the students. Thane Additional Collector Vaidehi Ranade presided over a meeting of college heads in the district, where she said the institutes would start vaccinating students from October 25 in light of the implementation of the Yuva Swasthya campaign.
The colleges will submit a list of eligible students to be covered with the first dose to the health department, which in turn will organize vaccination camps.
The colleges in the district have been directed to make a list of students who have already taken the job, and the rest will be vaccinated in the colleges. Additional Collector Ranade also informed that till October 20, at least 71 percent of the eligible beneficiaries in the district have been given the first dose, while 35 percent have taken both the doses.
