State in-charge S. Malviya, who came to participate in the six-day workshop at the State Educational Management and Training Institute. Malviya told media that the curriculum is being developed keeping in mind the geographical and cultural conditions of Uttar Pradesh. In order to make students more sensitive towards nature, society and country, preparations are on to implement “HAPPINESS CURRICULUM” in primary schools of Uttar Pradesh under a pilot project on the lines of Chhattisgarh and Delhi.

It will enable them to connect with family, society, nature and country

Under the pilot project, 152 schools in 15 districts have been asked to work on the curriculum. He said that five books would be prepared for the children of classes one to five. Happiness course will be offered for the students of class 1 to 8. It will enable them to connect with themselves, family, society, nature and country. This will also help them understand interrelationships, Mr. Malviya said, adding that children will also be taught meditation.

To apply syllabus from next session

Participated in the workshop as Instructor S. Shukla said that preparations are on to implement the syllabus from the next session starting from April 2022. Shri Shukla informed that there are 1,30,010 primary schools in Uttar Pradesh where 7.2 lakh teachers are working. He said that based on the evaluation of the pilot project, the state government may consider implementing Happiness Curriculum in all schools.

Classes in Haryana schools from 10 am tomorrow

Schools in Haryana will re-open for classes from tomorrow, December 20, in changed timings. Haryana’s Directorate of School Education has directed all private and government schools in the state to conduct classes between 10 am and 2 pm from tomorrow. However, Haryana school timings for teachers will be between 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Provision for classes

Provision for attending classes:

    • 1) Physical attendance will not be mandatory for students in Haryana schools and schools cannot press for it, the directorate said.
    • 2) Students who want to continue their classes in online mode will also have the provision to attend online classes.
    • 3) But students who do not want to attend classes in offline mode from schools, their parents have to inform the school authorities about it in writing.
    • 4) The distribution of food under the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme, the directorate statement said, will continue.
    • 5) Timings of all private and government schools in Haryana have been changed. Now the time has been fixed for the students from 10 am to 2 pm.
    • 6) Whereas teachers will have to be present from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.
    • 7) This order will remain in force from December 20 till further orders,” Directorate of Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Haryana said in a social media post.
