Our Supreme Court has refused to hear a plea by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students of compartment and improvement examination to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2021.
The court asked the students to put their point of view in front of the National Testing Agency (NTA) by the competent authorities. The Supreme Court also asked the students not to use the court’s platform to put pressure on the authorities.
We cannot postpone the examination ignoring the hard work of more than 16 lakh students and such important preparations of the central government and education department. That too when the candidates have got the admit card to enter the examination hall.
The Exam Is Scheduled On 12th September:
Dismissing the petition, a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Ajay Manikro Khanwilkara asked the students to approach the medical examination authority National Testing Agency (NTA) through a competent authority to consider representation.
The exam is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 12 September, 2021. According to the petition, the exam date for medical admission will be conducted at a time when some papers of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination are being held.
The students pointed out that the exam schedule makes it impossible for a student to qualify, as National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) will be conducted midway between the CBSE compartment and improvement exams. Advocate Sumanta Nukala, who filed the petition, stated boldly that – Certain class of students will be affected.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), in its argument, said that non-declaration of Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) results will not debar the concerned students from appearing in NEET as the results will be required only at the counselling stage.
Further, the petitioner advocate Shoaib Aalam pointed to the case of last year when JEE was postponed and the Supreme Court ordered, National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct separate exams for students unable to take the exam. However, the court asked the petitioner to approach the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the matter.
