The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition seeking a direction to the National Testing Agency to cancel the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate, or NEET UG 2021, and conduct the re-examination. A bench of Supreme Court Justices Rao and Gavaih said that if NEET is cancelled, lakhs of students will suffer.
It has been said in the petition that cheating in the examination is a matter of grave concern to the future of the student and the sanctity and security of the examination.
Petition filed by graduate medical candidates, alleged paper leak and malpractice in entrance examination. It cited an FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the involvement of coaching centres and paper-solving gangs in the case.
Petitioners Requested To Stay The Declaration Of Results:
The Supreme Court, in its order, said that the national level examination which has taken 7.5 lakh students cannot be cancelled on the basis of five FIRs.
The petitioners had also requested the Supreme Court to stay the declaration of results during the pendency of the petition. We know that the court is not going to interfere in the examination in which seven and a half lakh students have appeared on the basis of five FIRs, how can the examination be cancelled – said the apex court.
The top court initially imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on the lawyer but later dropped it with a warning. This time the cost will not be imposed but we will remember you. Next time there is such a case, we will surely impose cost on you, – the Supreme Court said.
What Is The Qualifying Exam Code, NEET UG 2021:
The qualifying exam code for NEET UG 2021 is the qualifying exam passed by the medical aspirant. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) candidates are required to fill the NEET application form along with the qualifying exam code.
To be eligible for NEET UG – 2021, candidates need to be referred for the qualifying examination criteria, an NTA statement on the NEET brochure said.
Code 4: Code 4 can be selected by NEET applicants after passing 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English as pre-professional, or after completion of pre-medical examination. However, NTA maintains that the qualifying pre-professional or pre-medical examination should compulsorily consist of practical tests in all subjects.
Code 3: Students who have passed class 12th can select code 3 as the NEET qualifying exam code.
Code 2: Code 2 can be selected by the candidates who have passed Higher/ Secondary examination with English, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, Physics, or Mathematics or any other optional or under Indian School Certificate Examination, 12 years period has been completed. A major subject as decided by the National Council of Education Research and Training, during the last two years.
Code 1: NEET UG aspirants can opt for Code 1 if class 12th result is awaited. However, students have to submit relevant documents during NEET counselling.
