The Supreme Court of India on Monday, September 3, adjourned a petition seeking a direction to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to change the dates of Class 12 correspondence, private and compartment examinations. CBSE offline exams are clashing with competitive exams including the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021.
The court on Friday discussed the results of private, compartment students and undergraduate admissions. The plea has also sought directions to ensure that colleges and universities admit students who were to appear in private correspondence examination and second compartment examination and not reject their applications due to delay in results.
Tough Times To Admission:
Advocate Anjaneya Mishra, appearing for the petitioner, requested the apex court’s direction to the University Grants Commission (UGC) not to take admission in colleges till the results of CBSE private candidates are out. Advocate Approv Kurup, appearing for UGC, said that if CBSE gives a fixed date then there is enough time for admission.
The Supreme Court bench directed the petitioner to give an advanced copy to the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). AICTE is the apex technical education regulator in the country.
Advocate Rupesh Kumar, appearing for CBSE, said – The last date for the examination is 16 September and the result will be declared by 30 September. This court approved the program.
CBSE Board Vs NEET:
CBSE Board offline correction started from 25th August and will continue till 15th September, 2021. A section of students has been demanding postponement of NEET 2021, saying the exam is in close proximity to other competitive exams and CBSE offline exams. CBSE students will take the Maths paper on September 13, a day after NEET 2021. The biology exam is to be held on September 6 and the Physics exam on September 9.
