The son of a labourer, Arun Kumar cracked the engineering entrance- JEE Advanced in his first attempt. Arun, who lives in a remote village in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy, secured an all-India rank of 2,503 under the OBC quota and 12,175 in the general category.
Amidst the economic crisis and distractions, Arun’s fortunes began to change when he was selected for JEE coaching by the Department of School Education in 2019. Arun initially started taking classes using his original phone, but his father N. Ponnalgan bought a smartphone for his son to take online classes.
Dudhnath Tiwari, son of a poor priest from Muzaffarpur in Uttar Pradesh has secured 548 rank in the Joint Entrance Engineering (JEE Main) examination. His father is a local priest, and the family faced a lot of financial difficulties during the Covid-19 induced lockdown.
Dudhnath once thought that to bring back the financial stability of the family, instead of preparing for JEE Main, one should take teaching tuition. However, his father, Pandit Ashok Tiwari, always encouraged his son to focus on his engineering entrance preparation and not get distracted by family issues. The boy who cracked one of the toughest entrance exams- IIT-JEE didn’t hear about the exam until 2019.
Murshid Khan, son of a trolley rickshaw driver in Bhadrak, Odisha, cracked the medical entrance-NEET with an all-India rank of 15,239. Despite the economic and other social difficulties, Murshid has made his name in the field of medicine with determination.
Farmer’s son cracked NEET:
Amidst all odds, Debasis Barik, son of a farmer from Sambalpur, Odisha, cracked the top medical entrance- National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2021) with an all India rank of 6,203. Apart from the family’s poor income, the troubles began when his father was involved in an accident and was bedridden for two years.
But, according to Debasis, her headmaster played a huge role in providing financial support and acting as her second father, helping her pursue her dream.
Hailing from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, small town Arigala Lakshmi cracked the top management entrance – Common Admission Test (CAT) with her determination overcoming all odds. The girl gave full credit to her father for helping her achieve success in the management entrance.
According to Arigala, amidst the financial constraints, her father motivated her to appear for CAT and enrolled her in a top coaching institute for preparation. With her CAT rank, Arigala secured admission in the Indian Institute of Management (IIM Bodh Gaya).
