Educational institutions in the country have been closed for a long time. Most of the States are planning to gradually reopen schools and colleges across the country as the number of corona-19 cases decline. Several states have already reopened schools, while others are considering starting offline classes by mid-August.
Preparation for reopening schools to comply with SOPs, vaccination of teachers and staff, and concerns of parents and students will be assessed before making a decision. Parents play an important role for their children in this situation.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) decided to constitute a committee of experts to evaluate the matter of reopening of schools because from the last year corona-19 spoil the education as well as economic condition of India. Committee in the national capital where Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was meeting with them.
As discussed in the meeting, a committee of experts will be constituted and prepared for the education and health departments to a road map along with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for reopening schools and colleges.
The Uttar Pradesh state government had announced for the reopening of schools not for all classes only for intermediate students with 50 per cent capacity from August 16, 2021. Apart from this, instructions have also been issued to start classes in higher educational institutions from September 1.
Maharashtra Education Minister V. Gaikwad said that offline classes will start for students of classes 5 to 8 standard in rural areas, while for students of classes 8 to 12 standard in cities. However, on-campus classes will be allowed only in areas where the KOVID-19 infection is consistently low.
Hence, the Maharashtra Govt. has announced the reopening of physical classes in schools in both rural and urban areas from August 17. As schools across the state have been closed since March last year 2020, when online classes were being conducted.
Educational institutions in the state have been closed since the outbreak of the CORONA-19 pandemic in March last year. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said her government is looking at options to reopen schools and colleges on alternate days after the Durga Puja Holiday in November 2021. However, nothing has been decided yet, we are thinking constantly, because it is the matter of students’ future – said M. Banerjee to reporters this week.
Government Of Orissa:
Department of Education said that the state government is planning to reopen the schools of class IX and 11 from August 16 and September 15, respectively. Schools across Odisha had reopened for class 10 and 12 students on July 26 after a gap of more than three months.
It is all known about vaccination Process. About 50 per cent of the students eligible to avail the KOVID-19 vaccination have taken the vaccine.
Meghalaya Govt. is considering reopening educational institutions, colleges, schools after mid-August. As L. Ryumbui (Education Minister) said there is a need to resume classroom teaching as soon as possible, especially in higher education institutions.
Government Of Karnataka:
To resume offline classes for class 9 and 10 students and for pre-university college students (i.e., class 11 and 12) from August 23. The decision was taken by the Chief. Minister B. Bommai at a high-level committee meeting. We have decided to reopen the schools in two phases. In the first phase, (offline) classes for students in class 9, 10 and PRE-UNIVERSITY will start from August 23, subject to conditions. The students will be classified into two batches with classes on alternate days – The Karnataka Govt. has decided.
Chief Minister YS Jaggan M. Reddy has decided to complete the process of improvement of schools as per the NEP system by August 16. That means Andhra Pradesh Govt. will reopen schools from August 16.
The government plans to start six types of schools as per the National Policy on Education (by PM Modi – 2020) – from pre-primary (PP)-1 to class 12, said on Monday.
Government Of Tamil Nadu:
By following (SOPs) standard operating procedures, the Tamil Nadu state government has announced the reopening of schools with 50 per cent capacity for class 9 to 12 standard students from September 1. The School Education Department has been directed to make necessary arrangements.
