The state government had issued a notification regarding the resumption of physical classes in rural areas which are not reporting new COVID-19 cases.
At least 5,947 schools in rural Maharashtra, which were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reopened on Thursday with coronavirus safety protocols for students of classes 8 to 12, education department officials said. Opened up.

According to officials, the schools reopened after the respective gram panchayats passed necessary resolutions and followed all the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols laid down by the government.
Kolhapur district saw the highest number of 940 schools reopened – followed by Aurangabad (632 schools), Yavatmal (503 schools) and Jalna (448 schools), he said.

At least 488 schools reopened for classes 8 to 12 in nine talukas of Aurangabad and 29 per cent students attended classes on the first day, the official said. He said that the total number of students enrolled in classes VIII to XII is 64,282 and out of these 18,509 students were present in the schools.
“Decisions are yet to be taken regarding the reopening of schools in the jurisdiction of the city council and the city. The number of students will increase gradually. Starting schools with physical classes was necessary, as there were barriers to online education in rural areas This move should be welcomed,” Education Officer BB Chavan told PTI.
The official said that after taking stock of the situation for a few days, the parents would send their children to school. He said that in some villages no patient has come for the last 25 to 28 days and schools in these places will start in the coming days after the expiry of 30 days period.
The total number of teachers for classes 8 to 12 in the district is 2,676, and of these, 2,280 were present on the first day, the official said, adding that 1,850 teachers have taken both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 1,332 have taken.
Another official said that so far, the village level committees have passed a proposal to start 859 schools in the district and these will be started in the coming days.
