Amid fresh cases of CORONA-19 & OMICRON in Uttar Pradesh, the state government on Sunday ordered the closure of all schools till January 16 and said that the night curfew will continue between 10 pm and 6 am in the state.
The night curfew, which came into force from 11 pm to 6 am with effect from December 25, was extended for two hours on Tuesday, the government said in a statement.
All concerned departments will be present for CORONA-19 management. Mishra further said that the district magistrate and the superintendent of police and commissioner will review the new corona-19 cases with the medical department, so that the pandemic can be controlled.
All schools will remain closed till January 16, but online classes will be conducted as usual,- Uttar Pradesh chief secretary DS Mishra said in a statement, adding that the night curfew in the state will continue between 10 pm and 6 am.
The Rajasthan government on Sunday announced closure of schools in urban areas, curfew on Sunday, time limits on markets and occupancy of restaurants and cinemas in urban areas in view of the rise in CORONA-19 & OMICRON cases. Restrictions were tightened on the day the state reported 5,660 new Covid cases and one death.
As per the guidelines issued by the state home department, schools up to class 12 in municipal and municipal areas will remain closed till January 30. Online classes will continue as before, it said.
Schools from class 1 to 8 closed till January 17:
Earlier, the government had announced the closure of schools from class 1 to 8 in Jaipur and Jodhpur municipal corporation areas till January 17. The guidelines state that schools will remain closed from Monday, but the rest of the restrictions will be effective from January 11.
Gehlot has appealed to the people to limit their movement to the minimum possible and follow the guidelines so that the spread of the virus can be stopped.
Of the fresh infections, 2,378 were reported in Jaipur. Rajasthan currently has 19,469 active cases. At the Chief Minister’s residence, 27 personnel, drivers of VVIP vehicles have tested CORONA-19 & OMICRON positive.
Schools to remain closed in Puducherry from January 10:
All schools conducting offline classes for students of classes 1 to 9 in the union territory will remain closed from Monday due to the unabated rise in the number of corona-19 cases.
Home and Education Minister A Namasivay said in a release that online classes will resume for students of classes 1 to 9 as a holiday has been declared for these classes from tomorrow till further orders.
A spokesperson of the health department had told PTI that the department had recommended to the government to declare a holiday in view of the worrying trend of new cases in schools conducting classes for students of classes 1 to 9.
The government reopened schools for class 1 to Class 9 on December 4, with the pandemic situation showing signs of easing. But for the last few days the new cases have been increasing and it touched 443 cases during the last 24 hours ended 10 am on Sunday.
Director of School Education PT Rudra Gaur said that all schools, including privately managed and government aided institutions, will remain closed till further orders in view of the ‘increase in the number of daily cases’.
