All schools, colleges and other educational institutions in West Bengal will remain closed from tomorrow, state chief secretary HK Dwivedi announced on January 2. This is one of the many measures announced today by the state government in view of the current CORONA-19 situation.
West Bengal is the second state in the country to completely shut down educational institutions this month. Earlier this week, the Delhi government decided to shut down all educational institutions to prevent the spread of the new version. All educational activities in schools, colleges and universities will remain closed. Only administrative activities will be permitted with 50-51% staff at a time, reads the government order.
West Bengal Chief Minister M. Banerjee on Wednesday asked for a review of the overall CORONA situation in the state and suggested that schools, colleges may be closed for some time if the situation so demands. A government statement said that the decision to close the schools was taken amid a review of the current corona situation in the state and concerns over the omicron variant spreading earlier.
Two days later, on December 31, the West Bengal School Education Department asked teachers and non-teaching staff not to attend schools unless they have a cough, cold or mild fever, unless they test negative for coronavirus. The cases of CORONA-19 are increasing. There are also some Omicron cases. So, review the position of the state. Earlier this week, the Delhi government decided to shut down all educational institutions to prevent the spread of the new version.
New Corona-19 Cases:
The number of active cases in the state is 13,330 which is the third highest in the country after Maharashtra and Kerala. 4,513 new cases of corona were reported in West Bengal yesterday.
Keeping in mind the health and life of the children, the District Magistrate of Patna said that all government and private schools in Patna will remain closed till January 8 due to severe cold and low temperature. Patna district administration on Sunday, January 2 said that all schools up to CLASS-VIII in the city will remain closed till January 8 in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
That’s why the District Magistrate said- Ban all the private and government schools of Patna district till January 8, 2022, the educational activities up to CLASS-VIII should be banned. The District Magistrate said in the statement that it has appeared to me that the health and life of the children are at risk due to the prevailing cold weather and low temperature in the district especially in the morning hours.
Schools to remain closed till January 8:
Patna is in the grip of cold wave for the last two days. The District Magistrate of Patna announced that all government and private schools up to class 8 will remain closed till January 8 in view of the severe cold wave in the state.
