Due to the extreme risk of COVID-19 associated with the conduct of board examinations during the second wave in April 2021, CBSE had to cancel both its Class X and XII board examinations for the year 2021. But, in turn, the learning objectives as well as alternative ways of looking at the conduct of board examinations for the academic session 2024-25 need to be discussed, if the situation remains untenable.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday directed regional directors to visit schools preparing Class X and XII results and verify or inspect their work and ensure that schools are not notified without prior notice as to be inspected suddenly.
“All Regional Directors or Officers of the Board are requested to visit the schools to verify the work done by the schools under their jurisdiction. In addition, senior officers of the regional office may also be directed to visit the schools for the said purpose”, reads the CBSE letter to the regional directors.
“In order to get the actual information about the result work of the schools, it should be ensured that while visiting the schools, no prior intimation is given to the schools and only random inspection is done. In order to fulfil this responsibility, it is necessary that all the officers involved in this task should be fully acquainted with the tabulation policy of the Board.
“A complete report along with soft copies of documents (can take photographs) duly signed by the officers may be sent to the undersigned by 12.00 noon on Monday, 12 July 2021,” the letter said.
As the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday announced the special evaluation scheme for class 10, 12 board examinations for the 2024-25 session. According to the board, the academic session will be divided into two terms in which each term will have 50 percent syllabus. The first term exam is to be held in November-December while the second term exam is to be held in March-April. The board also said that it will rationalize the syllabus of Class 10 and 12 for 2024-25; Which is to be notified by the end of July.
According to the notification, CBSE will reduce the syllabus in 2024-25, will conduct board examinations twice a year in different formats, and ensuring continuous recording of internal assessment scores for various options to calculate the final score at the end of the year.
