Karnataka C.M. B. Bommai on Friday said a special program will be launched to give “QUALITATIVE UP-GRADATION” to residential schools for Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, Other Backward Class and minority children in the state to bring them up to Central Board Of Secondary Education standards.
In a program organized on the occasion of 106th birth anniversary of former CM. D. Devraj Urs, he said that there is a need to create opportunities for the students studying there not only for higher education but also to create international education and employment opportunities.
That’s why we are coming up with a special program for this. Be it CET or NEET exam, we want to boost their confidence to take part in competitive exams.
Bommai said that our government is thinking that in the coming days, we have invested a lot in these schools for the infrastructure in the residential schools of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Minorities, there is a need to give them qualitative upgradation.
800 Residential Schools Catering To Students:
The Chief Minister said that the State Government would also start three new residential schools for the children of nomadic tribes this year. There are already four schools and one corporation. There are about 800 residential schools in the state for students from different social groups.
Karnataka started Adarsh Vidyalaya online along with CBSE. We want to create a system in which these residential schools are of CBSE standards, – he said.
Two out of four schools do not have their own building. For this we are giving Rs 6 crore each. We will also take decisions to protect the unique nomadic cultures, – he said.
The Chief Minister presented the D Devraj Urs Awards instituted by the State Government. Recalling the Urs and his “revolutionary” land reforms, Bommai said, “He liberated the land and he liberated the sons of the land.”
Further, he said, that his government will work on “all three” for the development of the poor and downtrodden, they are – Employment, Empowerment & Education.
The Chief Minister also recalled his contribution to the hydroelectric and irrigation projects in the state.
Noting that many programs started by Urs were still going on. Every year we give scholarship worth Rs 624 crore and residential schools are also running for backward class students.
