Ashwath Narayan on Sunday said that government and private colleges across Karnataka will resume classes from Monday.
Narayan said in a statement on Sunday – All higher education institutions, including undergraduate and postgraduate, engineering and polytechnic colleges across the state, will reopen on Monday as per the guidelines to ensure proper handling of COVID-19. can go.
Eligible To Attend Regular Classes:
The Deputy Chief Minister also said that only those students in the state are eligible to attend physical classes who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination. Narayan said, – As per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), students who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine are eligible to attend regular classes and the staff should also be vaccinated at least once. should have received.
Additionally, students who are going to attend physical classes will have to submit a consent form in a prescribed format from their parents to attend classes in colleges and universities.
The Union Home Ministry and the Union Health Ministry have issued SOPs and guidelines for all higher education institutions to comply with. “Wearing of masks and physical distancing between students is mandatory during class hours. Institutions have to take into account the number of students and classes available to ensure social distancing”, the minister said.
Meanwhile, the government also said that students are given an option to attend online classes and contact classes will be conducted to clarify doubts. The Health Ministry’s SOP directed the colleges to sanitize all areas, including furniture, laptops and computers, to maintain cleanliness.
Teachers should send the material of each term covering the syllabus one month in advance through WhatsApp, E-mail or Telegram. The material can be in the form of video lectures, power-point presentations, e-notes, e-books audio books and practice questions – Narayan said.
Regular classes in state-run colleges and universities were suspended since mid-March as the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic strengthened and online classes were held to ensure continuity.
Narayan said, – The decision to reopen the colleges from July 26 was taken as per the advice of the Committee of Health Experts, which had recommended a calibrated manner to contain the spread of the virus, in a calibrated manner.
According to the state health department data, more than 74 per cent students above the age of 18 years across the state have been vaccinated for COVID-19 so far.
