CBSE Plans Board Exams in November:
1) Candidates appearing for MCQ-Type Term 1 CBSE Board Exam this November will be allowed to use only pen for marking answers.
2) However, there will be an additional blank/circle in the OMR answer sheets for the use of the students in case they decide to change the answer to a question.
3) If four options are given to answer a particular question, there will be one extra blank space as well.
4) If students come to know during revision or for any other reason that they have marked the wrong option, they can cut it out, darken the correct circle and write the same (eg 1, 2, 3 or 4 or a, b, c or d) in the extra spaces.

Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) techniques

5) A combination of Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) techniques will be used to evaluate such responses.
6) He also said that the practical examinations will be conducted by the candidates’ own schools.
7) He said, “The marks obtained in practical examinations have always been questioned and often we have seen significant variation in the marks obtained by the same student in theoretical and practical examinations.
8) The final score of a candidate will be calculated on the basis of his/her performance in both the term.
9) As per the new scheme, Term 1 will be an objective type test of 90 minutes, while Term 2 will be a subjective test of 120 minutes. There will be practical(s) in both.

TERM-1 Practical Schools Are To Be Conducted By

CBSE wants the school to be responsible and assess the students on actual performance. TERM-1 practical are to be conducted by the schools themselves. Based on the current CORONA-19 situation and the ongoing Cation Drive, we are expecting TERM-2 Practical to be conducted by CBSE.

Expected Announcement Of Exam Dates:
After the board gets the complete list of candidates (the last date is October 9, 2021) students can expect the announcement of exam dates and guidelines in the next four to five days. CBSE has divided the board exams into two parts – Term 1 and Term 2.

CBSE First Term Exams

    • 1) On the marking system, Bharadwaj said that each question will carry equal marks and candidates will also get options.
    • 2) The number of questions will be different for different subjects. However, each question will be of equal marks.
    • 3) Also students will get options, for example a candidate may need to attempt 30 questions out of 35.
    • 4) On the ability to assess half the syllabus with only one MCQ paper.
    • 5) The objective type questions will also test critical thinking and analytical ability.
    • 6) There will be paragraphs from which candidates have to draw answers.
    • 7) The questions will be based on the requirements of the syllabus.

Keeping in view the CORONA-19 situation, CBSE is also studying the feasibility of allowing candidates to take the exam in their schools or nearby centres.
