Schools across Odisha reopened for Class 9 students on Monday, following the COVID-19 protocol.
There will be no recess or lunch time, said by education department. Students and teachers were allowed to enter the campus after thermal screening and hand sanitisation. Wearing of masks has been made mandatory and social distancing is being followed.
Following the instructions of the Department of School and Mass Education (S&MED), both government and private schools have reopened for class 9 students for the academic session 2024-25. The classes started at 9 am and went on till 12:30 pm.

Ensure Social Distancing Among Students

A teacher said that since the timings of classes 9 and Class 10 are different, ensuring social distancing among students will not be difficult. Due to the onset of the pandemic, class teaching was suspended from March 2020. Since then, students have studied online. Now students will have both online and offline option. School hostels have also reopened for Class 9 students from Monday.

Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) By the Board:
In addition, the department has for the first time decided to adopt Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) for students of
Class 9 and Class 10. Students and their parents must take this process seriously as these exams will help the board to publish the results of the students in difficult situations.

Number of Evaluations

The department plans to conduct four preliminary assessments and two summative assessments. He informed that these examinations will be conducted by the class teacher or subject teachers by the second week of September, first week of November, second week of January and second week of March.

Students Interact Directly With Teachers

Teaching will be done in four periods and students will be allowed to go home at 12.30 pm,” said a teacher from Bhubaneswar.

He said that if any student or employee is found to have high temperature or any other CORONA-19 like symptoms, he/she will be sent to an isolation room and the local administration will be informed to take necessary steps. Physical classes are always much better than online classes, where students directly interact with the teachers and clear their doubts, – said a student.

Schools Had Reopened

Schools were reopened for class 10th and Class 12th on July 26 after the situation of Kovid-19 improved in the state. Education Department said that the classes for class 11 students will start from September 15.
