CBSE will not give grace marks to class 12 students for accountancy exam. Soon after the Class 12 audit was conducted on Monday, several teachers and students commented that the exam was not as per the pattern suggested by the board in the sample question papers. Students and teachers unanimously stated that the number of choices between questions was less and the difficulty level of the exam was higher than normal.
Soon after the board decided to accept the controversial passing of Class 10 English exam against its guidelines and give grace marks for the same, news about granting grace marks for class XII audit started doing the rounds. However, in the case of Class 12 audit, the board has not admitted an error, even as teachers and a section of students have raised concerns.
The Board did not Take any such Decision:
This audio is being circulated claiming that the Class 12 accountancy paper 1 held on December 13 will be given “BASELESS AND FALSE” up to six marks due to an error in accountancy. CBSE said in a statement that no journalist has spoken to the Controller of Examinations, CBSE in this regard and no such decision has been taken by the board.
Amid concerns, reports started suggesting that CBSE would give grace marks of up to 8 marks in exams to students for alleged malpractices. The board has vehemently denied the claims. The CBSE, citing an audio message purportedly in the name of the controller of examinations, termed the report as “FAKE”.
The sample paper suggested that the students would be asked to solve 45 questions out of 55. However, in the exam he was given 48 questions out of which he had to attempt 40 questions. This reduced the number of internal choices available to students. After protests from both political and academic circles, Board not only dropped the question but also issued a public apology.
It said, – Board is committed to equity and excellence in education and promotes exclusivity and gender sensitivity. Board regrets this unfortunate incident and is constituting an expert committee to thoroughly review and strengthen the question paper setting process to avoid such incidents in future, – it added.
