National Law University (NLU) Delhi’s research centres – Project 39A and Centre for Communication Governance (CCG) – have launched digital courses on forensic, mental health and technology law and policy.
Project39A has collaborated with Elo Justice at Australia’s Monash Law School to launch two online courses – Decoding Forensics and Forensic Mental Health and Criminal Justice for Legal Professionals.
(Thus, of course) The separate areas designed to talk to each other, not to each other in the courtroom. We have forensic scientists and forensic psychiatrists talking to lawyers and the law, which enhances the learning experience but also has real-world consequences in terms of application to legal practice.
The purpose of these is to provide an understanding of the uses and limitations of forensic science in criminal law and the relevance of mental disability to the criminal justice system, – the institute said. M. Mishra, founding member of Project 39A, said, – In the course of our work, we have realized the constraints that were creating a lack of interdisciplinary learning for students and practitioners of law.
The curriculum touches on key contemporary topics in information technology and cyber laws, privacy and data protection, emerging technology, platform governance, cyber security and information security, intellectual property and technology, and competition law and technology.
The focus of NLU Delhi since inception has been to look beyond the standard legal study pattern and create new multidisciplinary courses and encourage research in specialized areas which are still nascent, – Professor S.D. This focus only got strengthened with the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, whose thrust is to transform cross-disciplinary research in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This is reflected in the continuous work being done by our research centres.
The course is designed to help students learn the legal, public policy and socio-political framework of cyberspace, and technology law and policy and their implications for our society. We aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of technology law and policy issues. The aim is to build the capacity of young professionals, students and stakeholders in the surrounding ecosystem, – said Daniel Mathew, Director, CCG, NLU Delhi.
