National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical admission in the country. The responsibility of NTA ends with the declaration of results and preparation of All India Rank List. After the declaration of NEET result, Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) starts counselling for All India quota seats and state counselling bodies conduct counselling for seats under their quota.
NEET 2021 is scheduled for August 1 but the application process is yet to begin. According to reports, a decision in this regard is expected soon.

NEET: All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling Counsel

On behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) conducts counselling for 15 percent All India quota seats for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. The process involves several rounds. AIQ seats include seats in deemed and central universities, ESIC and AFMC institutions. In government colleges, 15 per cent of the total seats are reserved for AIQ seats, while the remaining 85 per cent will be reserved for state quota seats offered by the state counselling authorities.
AYUSH Admission Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) conducts the medical counselling for AYUSH seats under All India Quota.

The concerned state counselling authority will publish the merit list for admission to 85 percent state-quota seats after considering several factors including the number of seats in state medical colleges, NEET cut-off and categories of students seeking admission in medical colleges. NEET: Reservation Policy

As per the reservation criteria of NEET counselling, out of 15 per cent seats under All India Quota (AIQ), 15 per cent will be reserved for SC candidates, 7.5 per cent for ST, 27 per cent for OBC and 5 per cent for OBC candidates. Percentage for PWD category candidates.

From 2019, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has brought EWS quota in NEET admissions, under which 10 per cent seats in central universities will be reserved for EwS candidates.

Documents Required for NEET 2021 Application Form

To fill NEET application form 2021, the process is standard. Based on previous year rules, in order to apply for NEET-UG, a student will first need to register and generate NEET Application ID. Candidates will also have to pay the application fee. In 2020, the application fee for general category candidates was Rs 1,500.

Students Must Have Passed 12th Class

Based on previous year rules, to be eligible for NEET-UG, students must have passed class 12 or appeared in class 12 exam in 2021. Candidate must have studied English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Biotechnology as main subjects class 12.

In 2020, candidates in the age group of 17 to 25 years at the time of admission to first year UG medical courses were eligible to apply. However, a relaxation of five years was allowed for reserved categories candidates.

NEET UG 2021: How to apply?

    • Step 1: Visit the official website www.ntaneet.nic.in.
    • Step 2: Click on the ‘Fill Application Form’ tab given on the home page.
    • Step 3: Fill the online application form after which you will receive a system generated application form number. Note down this application number.
    • Step 4: Upload the scanned image of the candidate’s photograph (between 10 kb to 200 kb) and signature of the candidate (between 4 kb to 30 kb) in JPG/JPEG format.
    • Step 5: Pay the application fee. Keep proof of fee paid.
    • Step 6: A confirmation page will be generated. Take at least four print outs of the confirmation page.
