After a large number of students from Kerala applied to DU colleges for higher studies with good marks, Rakesh Kumar Pandey, a member of the RSS-affiliated teachers’ body National Democratic Teachers Front, had criticized the Kerala Education Board. He had indicated a “conspiracy” behind the high number of applicants from Kerala, calling it “Marx Jihad”.

1) Kerala General Education Minister V Shivanakutty on Saturday demanded action against a Delhi University professor who made “Marx Jihad” remarks against the state education board and termed the statement as “racist”.
2) Education Minister Shivanakutty says that the minister has sent a letter to the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University.
3) Professor made racist and communal statement against students of Kerala. Such statements can create hatred among the students.
4) Mr. Shivanakutty also demanded criminal and department level action against the professor.
5) On 7 October, MPs from Kerala’s ruling CPI(M) and opposition Congress termed “mark jihad” remarks against the southern state’s education board as “ridiculous” and demanded condemnation by the Centre.
6) While Congress MP Shashi Tharoor called it “ridiculous”, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member John Brittas wrote a letter to Mr Pradhan urging him to take disciplinary and legal action against Pandey for his “highly reprehensible, degrading and Communal”.
7) In a statement on 6 October, Mr Pandey had alleged that the attack of Kerala Board students with 100 per cent marks cannot be considered as unplanned.
