The Supreme Court on Monday sought response from a private school in Odisha on a plea by 24 students alleging that the institution had illegally demanded money and sought admission in class XI in the same school to get good marks in the class. to put undue pressure on them. The bench headed by Justice AM Khanawilkara took note of the submission of the students’ counsel and issued notice to St. Xavier’s International School, Bhubaneswar.

Schools for allegedly demanding money and applying undue pressure:
Earlier, it had also issued notice to CBSE and the Centre on the petition. s. In the petition filed by the students including Behera through advocate M. It is alleged that the school management violated the apex court’s August 5, 2021 order in which it had recorded submissions of CBSE that all schools affiliated to the board be directed to notify the internal assessment marks, which would be the highest Average in the last three years and marks allotted by the result committee on case-to-case basis.
Arbitrarily cut off marks:
The petition alleged that students who agreed to the school’s instruction to take admission in the same school and paid the amount demanded, were given very good marks and those who did not agree their marks were arbitrary and illegal.
The students have also demanded a direction to the school to provide answer sheets. He has sought a direction to CBSE to initiate action against the school for not following its evaluation policy.
Kerala government to vaccinate students in schools from January 19:
The Kerala government has issued guidelines to introduce CORONA-19 vaccination in schools for students in the age group of 15 to 18 years from January 19. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of Kerala Education Minister V Shiwakoti and Health Minister V George. Sunday, January 16.
It was decided in the meeting that the District Task Force in collaboration with the Education Department would identify the schools where the corona vaccination would be done. Schools with more than 505 beneficiaries will be selected as vaccination sites.
In a statement, Education Minister V Shivankutti said, – 967 schools with more than 505 student beneficiaries will be converted into immunization centres for children in the age group of 15 to 18 years from January 19. A total of 8.15 lakh students will be vaccinated.
