Under the collaboration, Continental and IIT-Palakkad will research, develop, and build competencies in optimization of high-performance computing, simulation models for image and video processing series for autonomous driving, and based on human vision features and advanced security solutions Autonomous mobility safety features. Continental’s Technical Centre India (TCI) has signed an agreement with IIT-Palakkad for a 3-year joint research program focusing on autonomous driving technologies, connected mobility and safety solutions.
According to the statement, the program aims to develop skills specific to both Continental and IIT-Palakkad. The research project will be offered as an internship to students who will assist Continental’s subject matter experts.
The agreement will create an opportunity to harness Continental’s technical expertise and IIT-Palakkad’s academic prowess to collaborate in these areas, it said.
Continental said it will also provide internship opportunities and create specialized courses in line with current and upcoming industry trends to benefit IIT-Palakkad students. L. Chembrakalam, Head, Technical Centre India, said, with this programme, – we will focus on joint research projects complementing the automotive mega-trend. We are confident that this program will enable both the partners to interact with each other in terms of technology competence and achieving academic excellence.

To make collaboration more interactive and practical, hackathons and competitive challenges will be organized for the students. With this structure and specialized coursework, Continental and IIT-Palakkad aim to groom students into highly competitive industry-ready talent, Continental said.
