Information technology services and consulting firm Accenture on Wednesday said it will conduct in-depth technology research for industrial automation, robotics, and advanced technologies in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
Specific areas of collaboration include autonomous robotics systems, industrial Internet of Things, digital twin systems and advanced automotive technologies such as electric mobility services.
Because advanced digital technologies can help drive competitiveness and sustainable growth in a fluid and rapidly changing environment, and industry-academic partnerships are critical to developing solutions and talent for the future, – said Accenture Senior Managing Director, Lead-Advanced Technology Center, M. Zurale.

The Center of Excellence will be set up as part of an initiative to conduct collaborative research projects and jointly develop intellectual property on digital engineering and manufacturing across industries.
The Center of Excellence will also act as an incubator and identify disruptive early-stage start-ups to drive innovation and research, a press release from IIT Madras said here.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today inaugurated the IIT Madras Center for Quantum Information, Communication and Computing at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras on 19 September.
Apart from the new Centre, the Minister also launched the Institute’s Strategic Plan for 2021-27. Online degrees, internationalization and hybrid learning are some of the strategic plans.
Applied research will focus on how quantum computing can help a wide variety of industries and disciplines, including finance, energy, chemistry, materials science, quantum simulation and Q machine learning.
The Director, while sharing the plan for 2021-27, also said that the course programs of the institute will be hybrid. The university plans to offer three online degrees and 20 multidisciplinary pivot options. The institute seeks to internationalize its programs and as part of this 50% of PhD students will spend at least three months abroad.
