The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has launched a North East Research Conclave (NERC) roadshow on May 7. According to a statement by IIT Guwahati, the conclave will host around 2988 eminent personalities from eight NE states as well as other parts of India. The NERC roadshow is scheduled to be held from May 20 to May 22 in educational institutions across NE states.
NERC, North East Research Conclave, 2022, the institute said, seeks to provide the best platform for academia and industry to showcase their expertise, products and technology innovations on a mission mode.
Thus, the conclave is expected to benefit all in terms of establishing long-term collaboration for R&D innovations in terms of the goal of establishing R&D innovation-based sustainable Northeast India, a statement stated.
Mr Pradhan is scheduled to preside over the program along with the Chief Minister of Assam and Development Minister of North East Region, Government of India, G. Kishna Reddy and other dignitaries.
The North-East Research Conclave (NERC-2022) will be jointly organized by IIT Guwahati, Science, Technology under the co-chief patronage of Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education Minister and Assam Chief Minister HB. Sarma and Department of Climate Change, and Department of Education, Government of Assam.
The mission of NERC, North East Research Conclave, 2022 is to create a conducive environment for the development of local indigenous technologies and innovations, which lays the scope and foundation to promote translational research and entrepreneurship and help the country achieve its goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
IIT Guwahati Director Professor TG Sitharaman flagged off the roadshow on 7th May in the presence of K. Karthik, (IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup District,) P. Kumari, (IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Kamrup) Institute faculty and students. More than 400 students, staff and faculty members participated in the roadshow.
Participants from various sectors such as industry, academia, start-ups, research councils, PSUs, laboratories and technical institutions including schools and colleges from the Northeast region have been invited, the institute statement said.
After the cross-campus march on May 7TH Students and faculty members visited Guwahati Biotech Park. The slogan of the roadshow was “LET’S DO RESEARCH TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY”.
