The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has developed a technology to rate motors and batteries of electric vehicles and suggest the best drivetrain components for the Indian scenario to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). This, according to the statement of IIT Guwahati, is a one-of-its-kind approach that standardizes electronic vehicles on the basis of Indian drive-cycles.
Currently, none of the OEMs use this Science Technology and they have been requesting drive-cycle data of Indian vehicles.
This research hopes to create better and more efficient drive trains based on different sectors. It is also beneficial for start-ups. The aim of this research is to reduce emissions and reduce fuel consumption, – said the statement from IIT Guwahati.
The research focused on Indian climatic conditions for both rural and urban areas. He developed the method to suggest the best drive train to build. The drive-cycles developed by the IIT Guwahati team are unique and not available anywhere else.
So far, the institute says, researchers are not looking at Indian drive-cycles. Developed drive cycles are not focused on rural and urban drive-cycles. The electric vehicles currently available in the market also do not take into account the different climatic conditions in India.
This research has been published. The intention of the institute is to expand research to commercial vehicles working with OEMs to build more efficient drive trains that are adapted to the different climates of India. Researchers are working to develop this technology for four wheeler as well as the current project focuses exclusively on two wheeler.
