This year, the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Council has also changed the exam pattern for ISC and ICSE board exams by conducting two term exams and 100% Multiple Choice Questions (MCQS) instead of the annual board exam. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, for the first time, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is conducting a completely online examination for students of Indian School Certificate and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education schools in November.

Preparation to Face Competitive Exams

The exam is going to be with MCQS only and we are also preparing the students for it. The new pattern is aimed at preparing students to face competitive exams, but at the same time, it can be challenging for students to score high, – said S Udyama, secretary, VMJ School.
He said for the first term exams to be held in November, there is some confusion whether students will take the online exam from their homes or from schools as it is left to the choice of the students.

A Proctor Will Monitor Every 25 Students:
The council is asking students to take the exam from their homes if they have electronic equipment available and if not, then schools will have to make arrangements. Every 25 students will be monitored online by a proctor and students will have to take the exam while on video the whole time. However, we don’t know what to do if there is a network issue. We are still waiting to follow the detailed protocol, by conducting mock tests, to take the exam.

CBSE Announced Date Sheet

Recently CBSE Announced Date Sheet For Their Students:
CBSE’s FIRST-TERM board exam for class 10 standard will begin from November 30, while the exam for class 12 standard is scheduled from December 1. According to Sanyama Bhardwaja, the declared DATE -SHEET is for MAJOR SUBJECTS, and MINOR SUBJECTS, the schedule will be sent school separately. The MINOR SUBJETS exams for class 10 and 12 standards will begin from November 17 and November 16 respectively.

The teachers noted that there is no room for cramming now and students have to understand the concepts properly to score well and they said, that it is the first time that mid-year exams are being held for students and the syllabus has also been split in half for each session.

The new pattern and system are aimed at preparing students for competitive exams, which can be considered positive – Krishnan, Principal, Vikas School stated.
