The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations has released the revised scheme for assessment in the academic year 2024-25. ICSE, ISC Exam 2022 will be conducted in two terms this time like Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE term model for class 10 and 12 respectively. The detailed revised scheme can be seen on the website of CISCE.
As per the plan by CISCE for ICSE, ISC Exam 2022, the academic session 2024-25 will be divided into two semesters, with each semester covering about 50% of the syllabus.
As per the report, the reduced syllabus for ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) for the academic year 2024-25 has been divided accordingly, and will cover specified units or sub-units in each semester.
Exams Held in Semester-Wise:
Semester-1, which is conducted in November 2021 as an online MCQ based exam based on the reduced syllabus Semester-2, which is conducted in March or April 202 as either online or offline mode depending upon the pandemic situation in the country and will be based on short syllabus.
Students and stakeholders should also note that these changes have been brought due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the country. These changes have been due to the consequent disruption in educational activities, closure of schools and review of curriculum by CISCE.
Modified Assessment:
The question paper for each semester examination will be of 80/100 marks for ICSE and 70/80 marks for ISC. However, the weightage of the marks (for each semester) finally used for computing the board results will be halved subsequently.
In addition to the semester final examinations, students will also be assessed on practical/project work at the ISC level. The weighting of the points remains unchanged.
Similarly, for ICSE students, internal assessment will also be done and the weightage will remain unchanged.
If the situation is favourable, ISC practical will be conducted offline wherein the visiting examiner will determine the practical question paper based on the detailed guidelines and instructions of CISCE.
However, if the situation does not turn out to be favourable due to COVId-19, practical will be done.
In addition, schools will have to upload marks of practical/project work/internal assessment/SUPW grades by a specified date on the career portal at the end of second semester.
Schools should also keep a proper record of all the work done by the students, especially the projects as CISCE may call for the same at any time.
This time CISCE will not conduct the exam for the academic year 2024-25. However, stakeholders should note that there is no change in the syllabus of classes IX and XI. Even the reduced syllabus for ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) year 2022 examinations is available on the website of CISCE under Publications Section.
