Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the nation through video conferencing on the completion of one year of the new National Education Policy (NEP).
In his address, PM Modi said that engineering courses will now be taught in 11 Regional Languages (RL), which will help the poor, needy, downtrodden and other backward classes.

Changed Policy On Education Framed iIn 1986
The NEP, which was approved by the Union Cabinet in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi last year, replaced the National Policy on Education formulated in 1986.     • 1) Many congratulations to all the countrymen and all the students on the completion of one year of the New National Education Policy. In the last one year, all of you nobles, teachers, principals, policy makers of the country have worked very hard to bring the National Education Policy on the ground.
    • 2) How far we will go in future, how much height we will achieve, it will depend on what kind of education we are giving to our youth at present i.e., what direction we are giving today. I believe that India’s new national education policy is one of the major factors in the great sacrifice of nation building.
    • 3) The youth of India is moving ahead to make a mark in every field. They are also revolutionizing the Indian start-up ecosystem. They are preparing India’s leadership for Industry 4.0 and giving new wings to Digital India.
    • 4) More than 2,200 crore hits on DIKSHA portals in the last one year shows how effective it has been. Even today it gets about 6 crore hits daily.
    • 5) Our youth are ready to bring change; It doesn’t want to wait any longer. We have seen how KOVID-19 changed the whole scenario, but students quickly adapted to these situations and online education has become the order of the day.
    • 6) Academic Bank of Credit System based on modern technology is going to bring revolutionary change in this direction for the students. Now every youth can choose, drop the stream at any time as per their interest and convenience.
    • 7) The National Education Policy has been kept free from all pressures. The same openness that exists at the policy level is also in the options available to students. Now how much students study, for how long, it will not only be decided by the institutions, students will also participate in it.
    • 8) We have seen for decades that for quality education, our students went beyond boundaries. Under NEP students from outside India will come here and best institutes will also open their doors in India.
    • 9) We have also developed a tool to translate engineering courses into 11-12 regional languages. I congratulate the students who started their education in regional languages. This will especially help the poor, needy, downtrodden and other backward classes.
    • 10) Today more than 3-4 lakh students in India need sign language. Keeping this in mind, for the first-time sign language is being considered as a distinct subject. This will help the handicapped of the country.
