Delhi University will admit 20 per cent “EXTRA STUDENTS” under unreserved and OBC categories and 30 per cent students in SC, ST category to fill maximum seats in undergraduate courses in the first round of counselling this year, Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said on Thursday. This will also help in filling up the reserved seats which remain vacant throughout the year, Mr Singh told PTI.
CUET-UG will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from July 15 to August 10. CUET (UG) 2022 has been scheduled for around 14.9 Lakh candidates as per the National Testing Agency.
This year, the university will offer 70,000 seats in undergraduate programs across several colleges through the new Common University Entrance Test (CUET). Till last year, the university used to release the cut-off based on class 12 marks of the students.
This will also help in filling up the reserved seats quickly. Describing the process of counselling prepared by the university, the Vice Chancellor said that students will have to re-enter their choices on the Delhi University admission portal.
Remember, as per the DU department, the university has received more than 6.5 lakh admission applications. In an interview to PTI, Mr Singh said that rules and regulations have been framed for consultation. To fill maximum seats in the first round itself, we will take 20 per cent additional admission in UR and OBC and 30 per cent additional admission will be taken in SC/ST category, – he said.
In case of tie between two students, the marks of the best of the three subjects will be compared. If the best three are also equal, the best four will be compared and then the best five will be compared. If by chance the marks of the best five subjects are also same, then in that case, age will act as a tie breaker. The old applicant will get the seat, – he said.
In case of two students with the same CUET score opting the same college and course as the first preference, their class 12 board marks will act as a tiebreaker for allotment of preferred seat, informed the vice-chancellor.
