A teacher’s body, Academics for Action and Development (AAD), said taking loans from HEFA would lead to a steep rise in fees in the future. AAD strongly opposes the proposal to take loan of about Rs 1,000 crore from HEFA for infrastructure development.

The education ministry has already stated that major infrastructure projects will be funded only through HEFA and no funds will be released as budgetary support.
The university said it has been getting very limited allocation for building capital assets for the past three to five years and has been unable to purchase laboratory equipment. It also cited the condition of the dilapidated buildings. As per the HEFA funding pattern, the university has to repay the loan in 20 half-yearly installment over 10 years.
Delhi University Academic Council approves admission to undergraduate courses on the basis of CUET scores only:
Delhi University has already said that it will do away with the cut-off system for admission. UGC Chairman MJ Kumar on Monday said that CUET will be mandatory for admission to undergraduate courses in all 45 central universities and not for class 12 marks. However, there is a relaxation in keeping the minimum eligibility criteria of marks for admission in universities.
The Academic Council of Delhi University on Tuesday paved the way for admission to undergraduate courses on the basis of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores only from the 2024-25 academic session.
If the subject studied in class 12 is not mentioned in CUET, then the candidates will have to appear in the subject which is similar or closely related to the subject studied in class 12. The merit will be calculated on the basis of a combination of subjects in which a candidate has appeared in CUET, as mentioned in the programme-specific eligibility, – as per approved guidelines.
It is important to discuss whether the new system will provide such flexibility to institutions, – he said. Under the guidelines approved by DU, a candidate should appear in CUET only in those subjects in which he or she has passed class 12.
The recommendations were approved in the AC meeting on Tuesday. According to the dissenting members, admission to undergraduate courses through entrance test would mean complete erasure of classes 11 and 12.
