Delhi University officials on Saturday confirmed that admission to its undergraduate courses for the academic session 2024-25 will be through cut-offs based on merit as in previous years. The registration for UG courses will start from August 2, and the last date to apply is August 31.
Like last year, the admission process will be fully online – from registration process to fee payment method. Around 70,000 undergraduate seats and 20,000 postgraduate seats are being offered this year.
Delhi University had earlier said that it would conduct admissions through a cut-off list, but also committed to “implement” the Central University Common Entrance Test, if it begins this year. Central CET has now been rejected in this year.
In a press conference on Saturday, Rajiv Gupta (who is Chairman, Admissions) said, – Admission to undergraduate merit-based programs will be based on “CUT-OFFs” as per the practice of previous years. The Admissions Branch is working with the college educationist & principals on the modalities to fix the “CUT-OFFs” so as to avoid over- and under-admissions.
The change in the evaluation criteria or assessment by CBSE is unlikely to delay the declaration of DU’s cut-off, as their process “REMAIN THE SAME”.
As the board exams of class XII could not be conducted due to the pandemic, Central Board Of Secondary Education will calculate the results using the ratio of 40:30:30 for the performance of students in class XII, XI and X respectively.
Acting Vice Chancellor PC Joshi said that the registration for postgraduate courses and DU Entrance Test based courses to be conducted by the “National Testing Agency” (NTA) will start from July 26 and end on August 21. Admission for MPhil and PhD courses will take place there-after same schedule.
From this year, admission to Bachelor in Occupational Therapy, Bachelor in Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Prosthetics and Masters and Orthotics and Physiotherapy will be done through DUET.
Gupta said that keeping in mind the convenience of the students due to the “unprecedented pandemic situation”, the eligibility criteria and fee structure will remain the same as last year.
Keeping in mind the challenges faced last year due to the CORONA-19 pandemic, this year, for the benefit of the students, the university has decided to maintain the eligibility criteria as in the previous year.
All colleges or departments will use the same registration-cum-application form for admission and candidates will not have to fill any other form.
The University has also decided that there will be no change in the registration fee for merit-based and admission-based admissions. Centralized UG admission will be done through a registration-cum-application form.
Like last year, admission to sports and “Extra-Curricular Activities” will also be conducted completely online, and will be based on certificates rather than tests.
However, there has been a slight change this year. Till last year, we had given applicants the option to upload their certificates of the last three years. This time the certificates of the last four years (May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2021) Will be valid – said Gapta.
Acting VC Joshi said that the university is making every effort to make the admission process “Silky Smooth and Hassle-Free Method” for the students.
As part of this, there are plans to make the university’s admissions website more interactive. The admission branch is planning to conduct webinars and upload tutorial videos to help the candidates in the entire admission process. The announcement of these webinars will be published on the university website from time to time.
Sanjeev Singh who is Admission committee member said that all relevant information will be updated on the admission website at the earliest. Computer based help desk in the form of chat bot and email will also be available round the clock to answer the queries of the candidates.
