The schools had released their first list on February 4, using the point-based criteria announced earlier. A senior person of the Directorate of Education (DOE) said that the students selected in the second list have to take admission between February 22 and February 28. All private unaided recognized schools were directed to develop and adopt criteria for admission which are fair, well defined, equitable, non-discriminatory, clear and transparent, – he said.
Education department has also directed that the number of seats at the entry level shall not be less than the maximum number of seats in the entry level classes during the last three academic years – 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2024-25. The next list for admission, if any, will be released on March 15, the office said. The entire admission process will end on March 31.
25% seats for EWS or DG category:
As per the norms, all private unaided recognized schools will reserve 25 per cent seats for EWS or DG category students and children with disabilities in pre-school, pre-primary and class-I level.
The Deputy Director has been asked to ensure that every private school uploads the criteria and its points on the online module and further ensure that the school does not adopt the norms which were scrapped by the department and the Delhi High Court was upheld by the Court.
A monitoring committee has been constituted in each district under the chairmanship of the concerned Deputy Director (District) regarding the admission process.
According to the Delhi government, eleven (11) new elite schools of excellence have been started in the national capital this year, taking the total number of such schools to 31. After a hugely successful first year, 11 new Specialized Schools of Excellence (SOSE) have been added to the list taking their tally to 31.
These schools provide specialized education in five areas which include Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Humanities, Performing and Visual Arts, 21st Century Higher Skills and Armed Forces Preparatory School,- said a senior Delhi government officer.

Now the process of admission in these schools has started in the new session. Students can apply for admission to class 9 in their preferred domain till February 28. Along with this, admission in class 11 will also be taken this year in STEM and Armed Forces Preparatory School (AFPS). Students desirous of taking admission may reach out to the Admission Help Desk set up at their nearest Specialized Schools of Excellence (SOSE).
The government has partnered with globally renowned institutions such as International Baccalaureate (IB), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Australian Council for Educational Research, Boston Consulting Group, National School of Drama (NSD) for providing education to children in Specialized Schools of Excellence (SOSE) and many more.
