Delhi Government Schools will teach International Curriculum

The Delhi government signed an agreement with the Board of International Baccalaureate (IB) on 11 August. The CM said that the IB will be linked to the upcoming Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE).
The Chief Minister said that the IB is functioning in 160 countries and has more than 5,400 schools affiliated to it across the world. Now the schools under DBSE will get education of international standard.

This is a big step in ensuring world class education for every child, including those coming from the poorest families and the IB Board will be the knowledge partner of DBSE (Delhi Board of School Education) to provide support in curriculum, assessment and teacher training – said Mr. Sisodia.

    • 1) As per a report, all the Schools of Specialized Excellence will teach IB curriculum.
    • 2) DBSE will start from 29-30 affiliated schools. The Delhi government said that by August 15, twenty Schools of Specialized Excellence (SOSE) would be started under the board.
    • 3) SOSE under Delhi Board of School Education will cater to students of classes 9 to 12 who have special aptitude, 21st century skills and specific areas of study including Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Humanities, Performance interested and visual arts as well.
    • 4) Out of 20, SOSEs in the first phase, eight schools will specialize in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), 5 schools each will specialize in the humanities and 21st century higher skills, and two in the performing and visual arts.
    • 5) In the first year, admission to Class 9 will be offered in specialized schools in the humanities, performing and visual arts, and high-end 21st century skills.
    • 6) STEM schools will be admitted to class 9 and class 11 students. A qualifying test will be conducted for admission to SOSE and the admission schedule will be announced later.
