Every child in Delhi will be a patriot in true sense, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday, launching the AAP government’s ambitious ‘patriotic curriculum’.
In the inaugural function organized at Chhatrasala Stadium on the birth anniversary of revolutionary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, the Chief Minister said that nowadays people feel patriotism only by hoisting the tri-color or singing the national anthem. But patriotism should be a constantly evolving feeling within everyone, he said.

In the last 74 years, we have taught physics, chemistry and mathematics in our schools but have not taught ‘patriotism’ to the children. Patriotism is within all of us but it needs a push.

Today we feel patriotism only by hoisting the tri-color or singing the national anthem. The problem is that it only proceeds when we do something like this.
Raising slogans of “Bande Mataram”, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, “Inquilab Zindabad”. “We need to develop an environment in which all of us and our children feel consistently patriotic at every step.

Contribution to Society

How Professionals Can Contribute To Society:
Remember, a ‘patriotic’ doctor wants to help the maximum number of people, not just collect the highest fees.
‘Patriot’ professionals will return from work wondering how they can contribute more to society and not how to raise more money from under the table. A patriotic officer will not think of bribery but of clearing the maximum number of files to help the people.

The Facilitator’s Handbook Will Be Provided:
The Facilitator’s Handbook is designed for three groups – Nursery to Class 5 standard; Class 6 to 8 standard and Classes 9 to 12 standard – and these will be used to in still a sense of patriotism in the students through simple activities.
The ‘patriotic curriculum’ will be introduced from nursery to class 12 as and when schools reopen for the respective grades. There will be no textbook in the syllabus.

The ‘patriotic curriculum’ would bridge this knowledge gap, he said, underlining that students would not be asked to memorize historical facts and the curriculum would not propagate moral values.
DCM Sisodia said, we talk about the battles of Bhagat Singh, Hemu Kalani, Rani of Jhansi and Tantia Tope, but we never discuss what brought them into battle, how they fought those battles. fought.

Patriotic Stories Will Tell the Importance of Struggle

We must learn how Babasaheb (Ambedkar) transcended the definitions of political freedom and vowed social and mental freedom and how he prepared a strong constitution for us.
We will teach children the importance of this struggle and ensure that they realize what it is like to experience such inequalities. We will cover 100 stories every year in this course.”

Each Class Will Begin With “Patriotic Meditation”

The teaching method will be based on activities such as maintaining a ‘patriotic diary’, participating in ‘patriotic meditation’, ‘flag day‘ activity and group discussion, among others.
Some of the chapters are: ‘My India is glorious but why not developed’, ‘Desh-bhakti: My country is my pride’, ‘Who is a patriot’ and ‘India of my dreams’.
Sisodia said each class would begin with a five-minute ‘patriotic meditation’ where students would talk about five new patriots each day.
