As you know, 522 students from across the country appearing for the CBSE board exams have filed an intervention petition with PIL. In the intervention petition through advocate Tanvi Dubey, opposing the board’s decision to conduct the examination offline, they have sought cancellation of the examination.
Hearing has been held on May 28 and 31, which lawyer Mamta Sharma had petitioned in the Supreme Court that the last examination for children should be cancelled. Hearing the petition of Advocate Mamta Sharma, the Supreme Court has told the Center that if you make a differ policy regarding the exam from last year, then you will have to give a concrete reason for it.
“The government will decide within 2 days whether the CBSE and ICSE will conduct the 12th exam or not” said Attorney General K. Venugopal.
After consultation with all the states, 3 proposals have also been prepared for the 12th board examination, but these are not final. Other avenues can also be found.
The Ministry of Education Department has prepared a draft to conduct these examinations. The wait was just to get the green signal from the Prime Minister’s Office. Everyone was worried about what principle Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take.
There will be no examination for Centre Board of Secondary Education, Class 12 students this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Tuesday evening, June 1, 2021. He said that this decision has been taken in the interest of the students.
From the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), it is said that – “there will be no compromise on the health and safety of our students which is extremely important on this aspect,”. Students should not be forced to appear for exams in such stressful pandemic covid-19 situation.
Within minutes of the decision on CBSE, it was informed that the Council for Indian School Certificate has also cancelled its class 12 board exams for this year.
According to the Prime Minister Office, Centre Board of Secondary Education will now take steps to compile the results of Class 12 students in a time bound manner as per well-defined objective criteria. A release issued by Centre Board of Secondary Education said – “It has been decided that any student who is not satisfied with the evaluation shall be provided an option to appear in the examination by CBSE”. And in this way, all the speculation ended, the decision came in the interest of the students.
