Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday that children’s childhood is getting lost in the shackles of beliefs and these bars need to be broken. He was speaking at the launch of Children First-Journal on the lives of children by the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR). The first issue of the magazine deals with the impact of the CORONA-19 pandemic on the lives of children.
Justice Ravinder Bhat, the Chief Guest at the event, acknowledged the unprecedented attention paid to the issues of children who have lost their primary caregivers. We impose our beliefs, thoughts and traditions on children in the name of love, care and affection. Childhood is getting lost in the cages of beliefs and we need to break these shackles, Mr. Sisodia said at the event.
Efforts to Reduce Disruption of Education:
The next issue will discuss the challenges faced by students and teachers and the effort to reduce the disruption of education in a volatile era. The advisory board of the magazine was chaired by Justice (Retd) Madan Lour, former Supreme Court judge. He spoke about future plans for the magazine, which is meant to highlight the impact of the pandemic on education.
Giving Best Education to Children is the Biggest Act of Patriotism:
Paying tributes to Maharishi Valmiki at an event organized by Delhi Sanskrit Academy at Thyagaraj Stadium, Chief Minister Kejriwal said government schools are much better now and 2.5 lakh students from private schools moved there this year.
Kejriwal on Saturday appealed to the people to ensure best education for their children, saying it is the biggest act of patriotism and will go a long way in making the country great.
Chief Minister Presented Certificates & Shields To The Students:
Maharishi Valmiki and Dr. Bhim-Rao-Ambedkar, two great icons of the Valmiki community, laid emphasis on learning and education. I ask you to send your children to schools and not to engage them in any other work, – he told the gathering. The Chief Minister also presented certificates and shields to 22 students of government schools in Delhi who secured more than 90 per cent marks in the board exams.
The Greatest Act of Patriotism is to Provide Education to our Children:
These kids who have scored more than 90 percentiles have dreams in their eyes and they want to become IAS officer, doctor, engineer and want to go in other fields. Providing best education to our children is the greatest act of patriotism and it will go a long way in making the country great.
Free Coaching after Class 12, and Loan Provided:
CM Kejriwal said that his government not only ensured free coaching after class 12, but also gave a loan of Rs 10 lakh for higher education. The government bears the cost if a student wants to pursue a doctorate or other course from a foreign university.
