Chhattisgarh CM B. Bagel on Sunday said that government schools in the state will be run as per international standards so that students can be provided quality education on the lines of Swami Atmanand Government English Medium Schools, also known as SAGES. He said that the state government would also open “BALWADIS” (kindergarten schools) for children above the age of three years.
The CM made these announcements under the ‘Chhattisgarh School Education Vision Document 2030’ while addressing the inaugural function of the two-day Jawaharlal Nehru Rashtriya Shiksha Samagam. A gathering of educationists and innovative teachers is being organized here to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of the country.
Provide Quality Education to Children:
There should be international standard schools so that the students of the state can shine on the international stage and bring laurels to the state.
On the lines of Swami Atmanand Government English Medium School (SAGES) in the state, (government) schools will be run as per international standard to provide quality education to the children.
Pre-primary education will be provided to children above three years of age by running a kindergarten. Along with this, Employment-Oriented-Education will be provided to the students of classes 9 to 12 so that the children can acquire skills in a particular subject along with studies. We will complete it by 2030.
The state government had launched the SAGES scheme in November last year under which government Hindi medium schools were renovated and English medium schools were modernized. There are 171 SAGES running in the state.
Informing about the concept of the idea of starting English medium schools, CM Bagel said that it was found during the discussion amid the CORONA-19 pandemic that there is no hospital in the state where an IAS officer and his family are treated. Nor is it a school where IAS and IPS officers can send their children to study.
Speaking on the occasion, Congress spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh said that Nehru’s concept was based on “scientific temperament” which is not there in the current central government. “Nehruji’s ‘Parikalpana” (hypothesis/concept) was a concept of scientific temper.
Unfortunately, the concept of the present central government is not scientific in nature. In the concept of scientific temper, you have the power to question the ‘why’. If I am giving a speech here, my fellow teacher (referring to the audience) may ask why are you speaking like that. This was the concept that Nehruji gave to the country.” Nehru gave the concept of equality, inclusiveness, democracy and constitution.
