Many students across the country are preparing for CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exam 2022 Term-1 Exam. CBSE has issued a circular which may make the task a bit difficult for the teachers for the final practice of CBSE class 10, 12 students.

Students are not Practicing Correct MCQs

CBSE has already announced that more than 50% questions in CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exam 2022 Term-1 exam will be on merit-based MCQs. The sample paper released by CBSE on September 2, 2021 provides the paper pattern but as per CBSE many teachers and students are clear about the nature of MCQs asked in it but students are not practicing the correct MCQs.

Students just know that MCQ question paper is going to come where different types of MCQs will be asked but they have no understanding in this subject that what type of questions will be asked?

Science Paper For Term-1

1. Students should seriously consider practicing November Board Sample Papers from Our website of Class 10 and Class 12. Emphasis was given on time management of 1.5-hour paper and useful tips and how to organize paper time for each section are mentioned in our website.
2. Aptitude-based MCQs are not complicated case-based MCQs with diagrams and case-study paragraphs. It can be a diagram, table, statement-combination or labelling based MCQs, which already comprise 50% of the CBSE Class 10 Science sample paper that was provided.
3. A stand-alone-MCQ can also be competency-based in nature if it contains a diagram as a diagnostic tool to provide a visual representation of a technical process to the students which will enable them to hone their Analytical and Critical Skills (HOTS) at ease.
4. This competence-based learning also applies to Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects of CBSE Class 12, TERM-1 Board.

Mathematics Paper For TERM-1

CBSE experts suggested that it is important for teachers to understand the nature of aptitude-based examinations (analytical, guess based or critical assessment) in order to create questions for TERM-1 board practice.
In Mathematics, all the same parameters used to develop TERM-1 MCQS were covered, which included simple, complex and case study-based questions.
These examples were compared with CBSE TERM-1 Sample Papers and we found that there are indeed mixed types of MCQs which include process-driven and diagrammatic MCQs to test higher order skills.
Questions should be asked in such a way that students are using their lower order skills (memorizing and understanding) as well as higher order skills (applying, analysing, evaluating and creating).
5. MCQS for this type of competencies, this book for class 10 and class 12 was suggested to get clarity on last practice of TERM-1 paper which has these new type of expected aptitude questions.
6. CBSE’s own aptitude-based sample paper PDF was also suggested (available on our website) but there is no solution.

English Paper for TERM-1

1. Assertion or Reasoning MCQs can be asked in the Literature and Reading section of class 10th and 12th. Students need to practice such MCQs to be fully prepared.
2. It was clarified that no MCQs will be asked on the basis of standard format for letters, stories, articles etc.
3. Instead the MCQs will demand the students to use their analytical and decision-making skills of reading and comprehension.
4. Expect more than 50% of these type of questions in CBSE Class 10 and 12 English.
5. These questions test students’ reading, analysing and reasoning skills of the same high order as in the sciences and social sciences but with a non-technical approach. They also test low-order skills in students (remembering and comprehension).
