The Central Board of Secondary Education, or CBSE, is entering its 25th year of providing psychological counselling to students and parents in various ways. The board is providing free psychological counselling in two phases – first before the exam and second, after the result.
The main objective of this free continuous psychological counselling (since 1997-98) is to keep the class 10 and class 12 students of CBSE affiliated schools stress free during exams. And their solutions through Life Skills can also be seen and heard on the website.
Multimedia content on a variety of topics such as specific learning disabilities, substance use disorders, adolescent personal experiences, aggression, depression, Internet addiction disorder, and exam stress and their solutions through life skills can also be viewed and listened to on the website. In addition, podcasts on various topics are also available.
The board has provided the facility to the students and parents to access the audio-visual material on its website – cbse.nic. To view the program, students have to first go to the website link. Then the micro link of “CONSULTATION” under the ‘Media & Public Relations’ tab will generate the required page on the screen.
The special facility of Tele-Helpline was also started by the Board during the Corona-19 pandemic, which is being continuously operated exclusively from 24th May, 2021, – the Board said.
Over the years the Board has shared many important messages on social media and also used Facebook and YouTube, Instagram platforms to actively engage with the students.
CBSE is probably the only board in the country which is providing such facility in various ways, be it tele-counselling by the principals and trained counsellors of CBSE affiliated schools voluntarily provided through a toll-free number or be it tips and information. A question-and-answer column in IVRS or national newspapers.
Frequently Asked Questions, useful information related to exams like better preparation, time and stress management, prevention of CORONA-19, important contact details of CBSE offices are also available in IVRS. This year 92 Principals and Counsellors from India and other countries of the world including USA, Japan, UAE, Nepal, Moscow, Saudi Arabia and Singapore etc. Tele-consultation is a voluntary and free service, which is being provided by the Board from Monday to Saturday from 09:30 AM to 05:30 PM.
