Over 37,000 Students of CBSE and CICSE have said, that – it is a big mistake to take the exam offline. To listen to their demands, the students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Exams (CISCE) have started an online petition demanding that the upcoming board exams 2024-25 be either cancelled or postponed or be conducted online. We as students and parents wonder, what exactly was the point of doing this? That too after MONTHS CBSE announced it. However, we went with it, hoping for the best.

Taking offline Exam is A big Mistake

In an online petition on change.org, the students have said, “It is a big mistake to take the exam offline (CBSE and CICSE). If you need more time to fix the online exam schedule, please do so. But risking the lives of students is not worth it.

Underlining the importance of conducting board exams online, the petitioner said, that ICSE took the initiative to conduct the 2022-year end examinations for class 10 and 12 by using the word system. However, this arrangement was imposed on us and we had no choice.

ICSE and CBSE Exam Mode Difference

In this announcement ICSE has specifically stated that the first session exam will be ONLINE + MCQs. It is a safe way of conducting exams which has been adopted by hundreds of universities and schools across the world.

While CBSE had already said that the TERM-1 exam scheduled for November would be conducted offline, CISCE backed out of its decision to offer both online and offline options to the candidates for the first term paper and said that the upcoming board exam Will be held at Penn. And only paper mode.

CICSE has Released a Statement that Exam has been Postponed

Unfortunately, just 25 days before the start of the actual exam, i.e., 15 November 2021 – mid December 2021, the CICSE board issued a statement saying that the exam has been postponed till further notice. This is not done. The emotional stress that CICSE has gone through to its students since 2020 is astonishing.

The Petition had 35,000 Signatures:
This batch of students is being considered as the subject of the examination. They are not seen as normal minded people, children. With feelings, with pain. They are seen as numbers, as digits, as nothing but a nuisance, the petition read. At the time of publishing the article, the petition had 35,000 signatures.

Apart from this, CBSE and CISCE students have also started the HASHTAG #OnlineExamCBSE & ICSE campaign on Twitter to protest against the upcoming class 10, 12 board exams. While some argued that the examinations should be postponed in view of the pandemic, others said that the examinations should be conducted online.

CISCE Releases Revised Date Sheet for ISC/ICSE Students

Taking a U-turn on Saturday, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) announced that the first-ever board exams for classes 10 and 12 will be conducted in offline mode. It also released a revised date sheet according to which the ICSE exam for class 10 will begin from November 29 and for class 12 (ISC) from November 12. The exams will end on December 16 and 20 respectively.
