The first-term of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board exams for class 10 and 12 will be conducted offline in November-December, 2021. The date sheet for Term 1 board exam for class 10 and class 12 students will be released on October 18, 2021. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said on Thursday.
The board said that the exam will be of objective type and the duration of the test will be 90 minutes. In view of the winter season, the examinations will start from 11.30 am instead of 10.30 am. Dividing the academic session, holding two term-end exams and rationalizing the syllabus was part of the special assessment plan for class 10 and 12 board exams in 2024-25.
The Exam is Conducted for 189 Papers:
To avoid the learning loss of the students, the board has also decided to divide the subjects of class 10 and class 12 into two groups – MINOR SUBJECTS and MAJOR SUBJECTS. CBSE board exam is conducted for 189 papers. The board said that if it conducts the examination of all subjects of class 10 and class 12 together, it will take 40-45 days to complete. The board will first conduct the board exams for minor subjects, followed by major subjects.
After the conduction of TERM-1 exam, the result will be declared in the form of marks obtained. After the first term, no student will be placed in the pass, compartment and required repeat categories. CBSE Exam Controller S. Bharadwaj said that – the final results will be declared after the first and second semester examinations. Practical examination or internal assessment will be completed in schools before the end of the first semester (Or TERM-1) examination.
Various Types of MCQs will be Asked:
The question papers of TERM-1 exam will consist of Multiple-Choice-Questions (MCQs) with case-based MCQs and MCQs on assertion-reasoning type and other types. The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes as stated earlier and will consist of 50 percent syllabus.
The CBSE Board Exam for TERM-1 will be MCQ-based only and an additional circle will be provided for each question on the Optical mark reader (OMR) sheet. This is because the students will only be able to use the pen to mark the correct options in the Optical mark reader (OMR) sheet. In case of any mistake, students can cut out the wrong circle, shade the correct circle, and then write the answer number of the correct option in the additional circle provided for each question on the OMR sheet.
This year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will use a combination of Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) techniques to evaluate “Answer Sheets”. And, CBSE has come up with a solution called Academic Document using blockchain technology to record its result certificates in a linked chain structure and provide transparent, tamper proof and paperless use of these certificates.
Blockchain technology ensures that academic documents are recorded in a secure and tamper-proof manner. These documents can be accessed online in a reliable and verifiable manner.
