It states that the aggregate marks should be based on the school’s past performance in the class 12 board examination. “The historical performance of the school with reference to the best overall performance in the board examination of the last three years shall be taken as reference for moderating the marks assessed by the school for 2020-21,” the board said.
Class 12 results will be declared by July 31 and will affect the performance of students for three years or so from class 10. It states that the total marks will be based on the school’s past performance in the 12th examination. Around 40% marks will be based on 12th Pre-Board. And 60% weightage will be given to the performance of the students in the final examination of class 11 and class 10. The board said that 30 per cent marks will be based on the final examination of class 11, while 30 per cent marks will be based on the best marks of class three. Practical will be of total 100 marks and students will be assessed on the basis of marks submitted by the schools.
Students who are not satisfied can re-appear when CBSE conducts the Class 12 board exams, Attorney General KK Venugopal told the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has agreed in principle with the plan of the Central Board of Education. Meanwhile, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) said unlike CBSE it will consider the performance of students of the last six classes. During the hearing, the bench said that there should be a dispute resolution panel for students who want improvement in the final results, and given a timeline as to when the results would be declared and elective examinations conducted.
The court will hear the matter again on Monday (June 21). The Supreme Court had given two weeks to CBSE and CISCE to come up with objective criteria to mark Class 12 students who need these results for college and competitive exams.
