As the entire country is battling the second wave of Corona virus, at the same time many states have decided to conduct 12th examination of the board. Some states have decided to postpone this test, while some states have said that the first focus is on the safety of teachers, students and parents.
Amid increasing demand to cancel the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday (May 24), through its dedicated toll for Class 10 and Class 12 students and their guardians, called their annual tele counselling started. – Free number 1800 11 8004. To address the queries of the students and parents, they will be available on this toll-free number from 09:30 am to 05:30 pm from Monday to Friday.
The decision to conduct class 12 board examination was taken by the central government in a meeting on 23 May, where the education minister had asked all the states till May 25 to decide to hold the class 12 board exam. In today’s important meeting, many states presented their views regarding the exam. However, in view of the outbreak of Corona, the Education Minister will take a decision on 1 May.
Even today, during the virtual meeting, two proposals were placed before all the states, one was to conduct examinations in only 19 major subjects and the other was to conduct examinations in schools but it was said or done that only objective type questions and short duration will also be.
It may be noted that the Central Board of Secondary Education is keen to conduct the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination 2021 from July 15 to August 26, 2021, although during the meeting, the Board also suggested that the students who missed the exam in the first phase. Those students will be allowed to take the exam in view of the work related to the coronavirus.
It should be remember that many states including Chhattisgarh Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Haryana have proposed to conduct the examination.
Karnataka’s Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar on said that it is necessary to conduct the second-year pre-university (class 12) examination in the future interest of the students, adding that considering various aspects and information of the centres. In doing so, appropriate decision will be taken in the coming days.
On the other hand, if seen, Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendra Singh Chudasama said that GSEB class 12 board exam – for science and general streams will be conducted “as per the current system”. According to reports, the board has decided to conduct Class 12 board exams for science and general streams from July 1. In science papers, the first part will have multiple choice questions i.e., MCQs, while the second part will have descriptive type questions.
The Government of Tamil Nadu has also proposed to conduct the examination after the Kovid-19 situation in the state is reduced. School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said, “Like other states, Tamil Nadu also wanted to conduct a Class 12 board exam, as this exam plays an important role in deciding the career of the student.
On the other hand, if seen, Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) will conduct class 12th examination from June 1 to June 5. Where students have to take the exam in offline mode, they can take the 12th board examination from home only.
The Madhya Pradesh Board will announce the decision on whether to conduct the Class 12 examination or to stop the examinations in the first week of June. The Minister of State for School Education (Independent Charge) and General Administration “Inder Singh Parmar” announced that the decision on class 12th examination will be taken in the first week of June itself. And at the same time, he also said that the health and safety of the candidates will be given top priority.
On the other hand, about Haryana Board (HBSE) Class 12th examination, Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal on Sunday said that the board is ready to conduct Class 12th examination between June 15 and June 20.
The Government of Assam, as well as the Board Examination, is ready to conduct and has proposed that students who appear for the High School Living Certificate (HSLC) or Matriculation and Higher Secondary (HS) Examination may appear in three papers. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said, students who are appearing for matriculation or higher secondary examination this year can appear in only 3 subjects. The Minister also informed that a discussion is going on with the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, and a proposal has already been submitted.
States including Delhi, Jharkhand and Maharashtra have opposed the decision to conduct Class 12 exams. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that his government was not in favour of the options being explored by CBSE to conduct the exam and that proceeding the process without vaccinating the students would prove to be a big mistake.
Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that the option of “non-examination route” for Class 12 students should be actively tested keeping in mind the projection that children are more susceptible to new strains of coronavirus.
Bihar Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary has said that the examination should be conducted for CBSE Class 12 students as it plays an important role in the lives of the students. The minister said that the test cannot be conducted in the event of an epidemic, but CBSE should announce a provisional date for class 12 board exam 2021. Looking at the COVID status, Mr. Chaudhary also suggested online examinations.
