The petition, filed by class 10 and 12 students from over 15 states, has sought an alternative assessment method for the upcoming board exams. Last year, CBSE, CISCE, other state boards decided to evaluate students on the basis of alternative assessment criteria, students were assessed on the basis of internal examination and a formula prepared by the board.

Supreme Court seeks intervention against board examinations:
The students have approached the apex court seeking intervention against the board examinations to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and other state boards.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the dates for class 10th and 12th term 2 exams. Term 2 exam will be held from April 26. Meanwhile, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is likely to conduct the ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 exams in the last week of April. The detailed timetable, CISCE said in a statement, will be released soon.
CBSE likely to announce Class 10th and Class 12th Term 1 exam results soon:
CBSE Term 1 Result 2024-25 expected to release soon for class 10, and 12. As per the update of the sources, the CBSE 10th, 12th results are expected this week, after the delay and the starting date of CBSE Term 2 Exam 2022 has been shifted. Announced for April, 2022. As per various media reports, CBSE may release the Class 10th and Class 12th Term 1 exam results this week. However, there is no formal notification on this from the CBSE office yet.
It is worth noting that the board had recently announced that CBSE’s second term examination for class 10th and 12th will be conducted in offline mode from April 26.
Consider the situation of CORONA-19 in the country:
The Board, after discussions with various stakeholders and keeping in mind the situation of Corona-19 in the country, has decided to conduct the Board Exams of the second session in offline mode only. CBSE Exam Controller S. Bhardwaj had said on February 9 that the datesheets of class 10th and 12th would be released soon.
The pattern of question papers will be similar to the sample question papers hosted on the website of the Board. Students will appear in the exam from the allotted exam centres as in previous years.
