In a circular issued on Thursday, state education director Bhushan Sawaikar said that the state government has decided to reopen schools for physical classes after consultation with an expert committee. Schools in Goa have been allowed to reopen for physical classes for classes 9 to 12 from October 18 in compliance with the CORONA-19 guidelines and standard operating procedures, an official said on Friday.
Schools, if required, may initially follow a hybrid mode of teaching, i.e., online and offline classes, – the circular said. It added that masks, temperature checks and sanitisation are mandatory at the entrance of institutions and even staff should be screened before entry.
CORONA and its Cases:
According to the circular, functions and meetings should not be organized in the school till further orders. Goa on Thursday reported 68 cases of CORONA-19 and two casualties, taking the number of infections to 1,77,357, including 3,336 deaths. The coastal state currently has 680 active cases.
The Odisha government on Friday announced the resumption of physical classes for class 8th and 11th students from October 21 as the state continues to witness a decline in CORONA-19 cases.
Classroom teaching has already been resumed for class 9 and 12 students in the state, strictly following the health safety guidelines. However, the situation of CORONA-19 in the state is improving. We will resume classroom teaching for class 8 and 11 students from October 21. A notification will be issued soon, – School and Mass Education Minister S. Das said.
No Decision For Class 1 To Class 7:
He said the schools were closed since October 9 on the occasion of Durga Puja and Kumar Purnima and would reopen on October 21. He said that no decision has been taken on reopening the school for students of classes I to VII Standard.
School Education Minister Govind Singh said on Wednesday that Rajasthan schools will remain closed for mid-term holidays from October 29 to November 7. He also shared on social media the official notice declaring holidays for Diwali by the Education Department of Rajasthan.
Mandatory to Follow State CORONA-19 Protocols:
All educational meetings in Rajasthan will be held only after the permission of the district administration. It is mandatory for all organizations to follow state CORONA-19 protocols. According to the Education Department, Rajasthan, the schools will follow the winter time (10 am to 4 pm) from October 16, which was originally to be implemented from October 1.
Secondary Education Rajasthan, Bikaner has postponed the winter time in government schools from October 1 to October 16. The winter time is from 10 am to 4 pm, which will now be applicable from October 16. Schools will be according to the time of summer, – Education Department Rajasthan wrote.
UP Govt. To Set Up “Arogya Vatika” In Schools:
The Uttar Pradesh government has directed all state secondary schools to set up “Arogya Vatikas” (Celebrity Gardens) in their premises. The decision was taken on the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who is also in-charge of the Secondary Education Department, to ensure the wellbeing of the students and their parents.
Space should be identified in all the secondary schools in the campus and a teacher should be appointed to look after the garden after planting medicinal plants. The order states that Tulsi, Giloy, Ashwagandha, Stevia, Lemon Grass, Amla, Khas, Guava, Turmeric, Sandalwood, Drumstick and many other plants should be planted as they help in boosting immunity.
Encourage Students to Plant Trees:
He said that through these gardens, students should be made aware about the medicinal value of plants and encouraged to plant them in their homes as well. The order said that the parents should also be told about medicinal plants and their properties during school meetings.
