After a gap of two years due to COVID-19, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) reopened on Wednesday with the resumption of offline classes for final year students of all postgraduate courses. Jamia spokesperson Ahmed Azim told PTI that the first day of resumption of classes was a “success”.
International Relations final year student Firdous Ahmed Barbhuiya was excited to come to the college to attend classes for the first time. “This is the first time; I have attended physical classes at Jamia. It was wonderful. In the last three semesters we attended online classes only. Today we had two classes, we interacted a lot with the teachers,” he said.
Mr Azeem said that the ID cards, negative RTPCR reports were thoroughly checked at the gate before the students were allowed to enter the campus. We maintained proper social distancing, documents were checked properly, – he said.
Jamia to welcome students to the campus put up a banner which read, Jamia Millia Islamia welcomes final year students on phase-wise reopening of the university.
Classes have resumed for students in final years of 70 postgraduate courses. Mr Azim said that all the CORONA-19 protocols were followed and it was ensured that social distancing is maintained inside the premises.

Jamia Millia Islamia launches applications for online distance education programs:
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has started the application process for admission to the Centre for Distance and Online Education in distance mode. Students willing to take admission in Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma and Certificate programs for the session 2024-25 can apply online at jmicoe.in. The last date for submission of Jamia applications is March 25, while students will be allowed to pay the application fee till April 10.
To complete the admission process, students will have to get their documents verified between March 9 and April 8, a statement from Jamia said.
Jamia Millia Islamia has invited applications for admission to the Centre for Distance and Online Education in distance mode for the academic session 2024-25 (starting from January) – a statement issued in this regard said.
Applicants should keep these items ready while filling the application form – Email ID, Mobile Number, Scanned Photo and Signature, and Online Banking Details. CDOE, JMI offers admission for various Post Graduate, Undergraduate, Diploma and Certificate programmes, and the online application form is available on the website www.jmicoe.in from March 2, 2022.
