Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Jodhpur) are developing a software framework, Comic-to-Video Network (C2VNet), to convert digital comics into videos. Researchers in the digital humanities contribute to a holistic range of approach methods, rather than a variety of approaches, that emphasize preserving, transmitting, reconstructing, and interpreting the human record historically and contemporarily.
According to IIT Jodhpur, – C2VNet develops panel-by-panel into a comic strip and eventually produces a full-length video (with audio) of a digitized or birth-digital storybook. Target designed and developed the software which takes a birth-digital or digitized comic book as input and produces an audio-visual animated film from it.
Dr. Chiranjoy Chattopadhyay, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Jodhpur, said that the panel extraction model C2V-Net has two internal networks to support video creation. The CPE-Net developed by the team delivers over 97 percent accuracy, and the speech balloon segmentation model SBS-Net delivers 98 percent accuracy with fewer parameters. Both outperform state-of-the-art models. C2V-Net is the first step toward a bigger future of automation. Multimedia creation of comic books to bring new comic reading experiences.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras on Monday announced that it is going to launch a Masters program in Electric Vehicles. The institute said it would be an Interdisciplinary Dual Degree (IDDD) and would be awarded to B.Tech and Dual Degree students.
Students are expected to enroll in the program from January 2022 during their third year of BTech and dual degree programs. Initial admission is expected to be 25-26 students.
This course will result in a collaboration of around eight departments covering the skills a student needs to range from electric vehicles. The content presented is carefully curated to create sufficient depth in each domain, starting from vehicle basics going up to very specific EV aggregates including batteries and motors,- said Professor Ashokan, Head, Department of Engineering Design, he said.
Students graduating from this program will have the necessary skill sets to pursue job opportunities in EV product development, including EV integration, vehicle aggregate engineering, communication and calibration, validation and validation, and product and portfolio planning – said IIT Madras.
Upgrading to IDDD Programs:
IIT Madras students can upgrade to IDDD programmes, where they obtain a BTech degree after five years in the core subject and MTech in an interdisciplinary course.
