NCERT Solutions for Class 9 Maths Exercise 9.2 Areas of Parallelograms and Triangles

Class 9 Maths Exercise 9.2 is a continuation of the previous exercise and has six question in all. They too are related to finding out the area of parallelogram and the area of smaller triangles within the parallelogram under different situations.

This Exercise is really helpful in providing an insight into the practical application of geometry in real life. It would not be incorrect to say that geometry is, by far, the most important subject along with trigonometry for engineering students.

In this exercise 9.2, we should also learn the very important proofs of theorems 9.1 that parallelogram on the same base and same parallels are equal in area. There are not too many theorems in the latest syllabus hence whatever are there must be mastered.

In fact, more than half of geometry consist of proving various things like areas, volumes and also derivations. Must prove the theorem as many students find difficulty in remembering the proofs of theorems.

Generally, in the questions given under this exercise, the letters AR are used together to represent the area of the plane figures—the triangle, the parallelogram and similar figures. This has become a convention. It is always suggested that students try to do each and every question in the exercise (though we may suggest certain questions as important).

It is further advised that each and every example must be done. The examiner can ask any question from the exercise or from the given examples in the text book. Remember the old saying, Practice makes a man perfect.

It actually means that good practice makes a man perfect–bad practice will make matters worse. Class 9 is an important step in the process of mathematical learning—Topics should not be skipped. Just because they require little hard work an imagination.
