Class 5 English Chapter 5 The Lazy Frog – Summary
This is a fund poem by some anonymous writer about the frog who is too lazy and spends his all-day sleep. The poet asked the children if they are like this frog? The Frog named frog stays on the wooden log and stays there all day, unlike other frogs he doesn’t go anywhere or doesn’t work at all.
Even when his old mother calls him for help at work he didn’t go and even acts like he didn’t even listen to her calls. He doesn’t even make a noise like other frogs make and keeps on sleeping in one heap of mud. Poet says Fred the frog is too lazy to greet if a lady frog passes by, He doesn’t even open his one eye.

5th English Chapter 5 Rip Van Winkle – Summary
This is the story of a humble and good person named “Rip Van Winkle”. Who lives in a village on Kaatskill mountain the only problem with Rip is that he is a too lazy person but everyone likes him and he is a very kind and Jolly person. He teaches the kids to play marble and how to fly kites and tells them long stories, but Rip is very careless and wastes his time doing nothing his cows roam around the village as fences around the house fall.
To avoid working to spend some time idly he walks into the jungle along with his companion dog (Wolf). One fine day he did the same and went too far inside the jungle and reached the top of the mountain. Being tired he decided to rest there so suddenly an old man came asking for help with the wooden barrel that contain wine. Rip helped him and took the barrel with the man to his place and he saw the group of old men playing volley. He got scared.
When to thank him, the old man offered him wine he drinks that and more than he should and went to sleep. When he woke up he couldn’t find his dog wolf and he tried to call him. He finally decided to go back to the village, He was surprised to see different people and everyone is changed now and the village looks different, he touched his face and saw he grew a beard and now he is old. He met a neighbor who told him that he was gone for 20 years.
