What is Subject?
The first part of a sentence which shows the person or the thing is called the subject.
Just go through the following sentences:
- Shikhar works in a bank.
- The goat is a four footed animal.
- They are neatly dressed.
In the above sentences the words ‘Shikhar’, ‘the goat’, and ‘they’ are subjects as we speak about them.
Predicate
What we speak about the subject is called predicate. This is the remaining part of the sentence after the subject.
Examples:
1. Aman is playing cricket.
2. Sonam dances well.
3. we go to school every day.
In the above sentences the words ‘playing cricket’, ‘dances well’ and ‘go to school every day’ are the predicates as these are said about the subjects.
